Samsung Wallet brings stablecoin payouts to 82 million Galaxy devices powered by Bastion, through the Borderless network

Samsung Wallet is giving 82 million Galaxy devices in the US the ability to send remittances abroad with stablecoins, delivered as local currency into bank accounts in 60+ countries. Bastion is serving as the regulated US entity originating the payments and Borderless is the network enabling those payments seamlessly into bank accounts across the world.
One of the largest consumer brands in the world putting stablecoin payments in front of mainstream users, with the bank-account payout leg running on our network.
Money abroad, from the wallet already on your phone
Starting the last week of October, eligible Galaxy users will be able to send USDC to any bank account abroad, where it arrives as local currency in seconds with no transfer fee. The recipient just gets money in their account, and the sender doesn’t need a separate app or any private keys to manage.
Samsung is using Bastion to originate those transactions through the Borderless network. Bastion is the licensed US custodian that verifies every sender, holds the balances, and originates the payment. Borderless connects Bastion to the local regulated partners behind those payouts. When a Galaxy user sends money abroad, Borderless routes the payment to a licensed partner on the network, who converts it to local currency in the bank account.
The fastest, safest and most scalable path to market
The last mile of reaching a bank account in 60 countries is one of the most difficult parts of any stablecoin product. Each country has its own license, rails and liquidity, which means its own local provider to vet, integrate, monitor and operate. The work fragments further with every market you add, and done one country at a time it takes years. Bastion took advantage of the single connection to Borderless to enable an entire network of them. Our connectivity, operations and intelligence layers are why that connection is the fastest, safest and most scalable path to market.
On top of the network sits the operations layer, which handles reconciliation, alerting and RFIs, and the intelligence layer, which runs on more than 64 million data points on the cost, reliability and settlement speed of every provider, rail and FX conversion on the network.
Seamless stablecoin adoption
Until now, sending a stablecoin abroad meant finding an exchange, installing a wallet, and hoping the person on the other end had done the same. That setup has kept stablecoin payments mostly among people already in crypto. Samsung Wallet lowers that barrier for US users on 82 million devices. The transfer happens in the phone people already carry and the recipient is paid into their local account.
It’s also what Borderless has been building toward from the start. We exist to make onchain money globally interoperable with offchain money and bank accounts. We build the network that connects the two, one integration to the licensed institutions that reach local bank accounts, with the operations and intelligence behind the platform. Samsung putting that inside the wallet on 82 million devices is a major milestone toward that goal, and we are proud to be behind it as the infrastructure enabling it at scale.
If you are building a wallet or a fintech product whose users need local rails at scale, the network is open to you. Coverage is at borderless.xyz/network and the API at docs.borderless.xyz.
