Dfns Integrates Borderless to Power Stablecoin Payouts

Mar 4, 2026

Dfns, the MPC wallet infrastructure behind IBM's Digital Asset Haven, trusted by Circle, Goldman Sachs, and over 250 financial institutions, has selected Borderless.xyz to power it’s new global offramp product, Dfns Payouts.

As stablecoin volumes scale and best-execution expectations tighten, large enterprises and institutions aren't asking for another wallet or another rail. They're asking for choice - across providers, across corridors, across pricing. Today, most teams still build stablecoin payment flows on a single rail, concentrating control over pricing power, operational risk, and regulatory scrutiny all in one place. Institutions face lock-in, weak price discovery, limited redundancy, and increasing pressure to demonstrate best execution.

Dfns chose to integrate Borderless.xyz to break that pattern - separating routing from authorization and execution within its infrastructure, and offering its customers a secure, vendor-agnostic alternative to the opaque, all-in-one platforms offered by external providers.

"Institutions shouldn't have to bet their stablecoin strategy on a single vendor," said Kevin Lehtiniitty, CEO of Borderless.xyz. "Dfns customers now get real choice and control over how, where, and with whom their payments run — better pricing, built-in redundancy, and no single-rail dependency."

Two Layers, One Payout

Getting stablecoins on-chain is the easy part. The complexity hits when those flows need to reach a bank account on the other side - local rails, beneficiary checks, compliance requirements, and pricing that varies by corridor, provider, and time of day. Most teams solve this by picking one off-ramp provider and building everything around it. It's fast to ship. It also means your entire payout infrastructure is only as good as that one provider's coverage, pricing, and uptime.

Dfns Payouts is powered by Borderless.xyz's routing, connectivity, and best-execution layer across over a dozen payment providers - including Bridge, Bitso, Infinia, Yellow Card, Trace, and many others. Borderless evaluates fees, FX spreads, and settlement paths across its network, routing flows to the most efficient option based on cost, speed, and reliability.

Stablecoin payout infrastructure should work like every other institutional financial system: competitive routing underneath, consistent governance on top. Borderless is the first provider to integrate with Dfns Payouts, and the architecture is built to support more. The goal is a payout layer where providers compete per transaction and wallet-level controls remain constant,” said Clarisse, Co-CEO of Dfns.

Dfns sits beneath as the secure wallet, policy, and execution control layer. Its MPC-based infrastructure ensures private keys are never exposed, while policy-based controls, role-based access, multi-approver workflows, and limits govern every transaction. All actions are cryptographically logged with clear separation of duties.

Borderless decides where a payment should go. Dfns decides whether it's allowed to go there.

"Stablecoin payout infrastructure should work like every other institutional financial system: competitive routing underneath, consistent governance on top. Borderless is the first provider to integrate with Dfns Payouts, and the architecture is built to support more. The goal is a payout layer where providers compete per transaction and wallet-level controls remain constant," said Clarisse Hagège, CEO of Dfns.

The Borderless Advantage

Borderless has spent the last few years building the supply side of its orchestration network, onboarding licensed financial institutions across Africa, Latin America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, and connecting them into a single API that any platform can plug into. The network now covers over 94 countries and 63 currencies, with providers competing on every transaction to deliver the best pricing, fastest settlement, and deepest liquidity for each corridor.

That network is exactly what Dfns needed. Rather than building payout routing internally or locking their customers into a single off-ramp, Dfns integrated Borderless - plugging directly into the orchestration layer so their 250+ institutional customers can access the full depth of the Borderless network from day one. As Borderless continues to onboard new providers and expand into new corridors, Dfns customers automatically get access to that expanded coverage and improved pricing without any additional integration work.

This is how the Borderless platform is designed to scale. Every new client like Dfns brings volume to the network. Every new provider added to the network improves execution for every client. The result is a flywheel. More volume attracts better providers, better providers attract more clients, and the entire network gets stronger with each integration.

What This Unlocks for Customers

This is a meaningful unlock for fintechs, banks, enterprises, and public-sector institutions building stablecoin payment flows

  • Price discovery and lower costs. Instead of accepting whatever a single vendor charges, Dfns customers now get real-time evaluation across multiple providers. Payments route to the most efficient option -  no embedded margins, better unit economics across payments, treasury, and stablecoin flows.

  • Best execution by design. Routing decisions are based on cost, speed, and reliability, and the execution data is auditable. Dfns policies can enforce routing constraints before any signature happens - a meaningfully stronger posture with regulators, auditors, and internal governance teams.

  • Operational resilience. Borderless.xyz is an orchestration layer, not a payment rail. If one provider degrades or goes offline, routing shifts automatically. There is no hard dependency on any single vendor - critical for institutions where downtime is non-negotiable.

Why Optionality Wins at Scale

Tightly coupled, single-provider stacks work fine for teams moving fast. But as more institutions move into stablecoins, for cross-border payments, treasury operations, payroll, trade settlement, the infrastructure they build on will define their cost structure, their regulatory posture, and their operational resilience for years to come. Locking into a single provider early might be the fastest path to launch, but it's rarely the best foundation for what comes next. Concentration in one provider is a risk - not a feature.

The Dfns × Borderless model offers a different path: one where routing is intelligent, providers compete for every transaction, security is enforced at the wallet layer, and the entire system is built for redundancy from day one. That architecture doesn't just serve Dfns customers - it sets a standard for any institution serious about moving stablecoins at scale.

Borderless.xyz continues to expand its network of payment providers, corridors, and currencies. Every new integration strengthens the routing, deepens the liquidity, and improves pricing across the entire network. If you're building stablecoin payment flows and want access to that infrastructure - get in touch.
